Beginning with Amberley Hall in 2014, the company has grown year-on-year to become a group of seven care homes for the elderly, located across East Anglia.
It is important to all at Athena that each of our private care homes is a comfortable environment with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Each of our residential nursing homes is regulated and registered by the Care Quality Commission. We are proud to provide an outstanding standard of care.
As a group of person-centred care homes with family values at our very core, you can be confident in knowing that our family will care for yours.
We want to be the first choice for high quality dementia, nursing and residential care, leaving a positive legacy within our communities.
Our residential nursing homes are managed by amazing and passionate people, including a home manager, designated clinical care leaders, and a dedicated hospitality services team to keep everything running smoothly.
We hold our values close to our hearts, and ensure that team members throughout each of our residential nursing homes understand them and what importance they hold. We approach everything we do with thought and we deliver it with passion.
We aim to deliver exceptional care for all of our residents. The ‘authentic’ part is from the daughter of one of our residents. She explained our care was ‘authentic’ because she hears the conversations our team have with her Mum when she’s on Facetime. She was confident our team always treated her Mum with kindness, dignity and offered real, authentic care.
We want to create memories for our residents, their loved ones and our team. Whether that’s putting a smile on someone’s face or creating a unique moment through our lifestyles activities and events.
We want to offer each other support at all times. Whether that’s to our residents, team members, friends, family or our community partners. We are all working together to deliver our vision.
At Athena we celebrate everyone as an individual. Whether that’s delivering authentic care, supporting our team to make moments for our residents and their loved ones, or whether that’s learning and growing together.
Being conscious of our impact on the environment is really important to us. That's why we're working really hard to reduce our impact and be more sustainable in everything we do at our residential nursing homes.
Since December 2021 we have planted five trees for every resident who moves into our homes to create a lasting legacy.
Within our homes we've partnered with local suppliers, our residents grow their own veggies in the garden and we continuously investigate energy efficiency measures at all of our homes to minimise our impact.
There's lots more we do too! You can find more in our brochure below.
While the business has grown, she's passionate that family values are still at the centre of everything we do.
With the four values for the company being Delivering Authentic Care, Making Moments Together, Celebrating Every Individual and Being There for Each Other, you can be confident knowing that our family will care for yours.
In the last few years, we have won awards across our industry and, in 2020, Athena Care Homes was named as one of the London Stock Exchanges’ 1000 companies to inspire. We’re members of the Care Workers’ Charity and work hard to make sure our staff and homes are key parts of our local communities.
It's important to all of us at Athena that each of our homes have a warm, welcoming environment and that we provide an outstanding standard of care.

I enjoy being part of organisations that have a true focus on care, for both residents and for colleagues – hence why I am here at Athena.
During my time in the sector I have helped companies grow successfully via acquisition, redevelopment and new builds, always keeping internal and external stakeholders well informed.
I have been using this experience to help Athena maintain high standards, whilst ensuring we have the financial resources, processes and reporting to help us grow as an organisation and as a team.
In tune with Athena’s ethos, I place a lot of value in family and I am proud of being a dad to three daughters and a husband to my wife, Angela.
I enjoy going to the gym (most) mornings and towing our tin tent around the country for memorable holidays with family and friends.
My role here at Athena Care Homes is as Clinical and Quality Director which gives me great responsibility and with that a great opportunity to do the best I can to support our residents to live well and happy lives.

As Head of Operational Support I help to take ideas to execution and support functions across the entirety of the business. It is a wide and varied role with no day being the same as the next, but as a solution orientated individual I thoroughly enjoy a challenge, making it a very rewarding role.
Having had my own experience of finding a care home for a loved one, I know how daunting it is investigating care and I'm extremely passionate that we explain our care clearly and with a personal touch.
I was attracted to Athena by our pledge that it’s ‘Our family caring for yours’. As part of that I am committed to ensuring our homes are an integral part of our local community. We pride ourselves on having a broad range of partnerships, offering support meetings, interesting and informative events and much more to people living in our local areas.
With a passion for all things digital, I am working on exciting new innovations to Athena Care Homes and ensuring that we keep our residents, loved ones and community up to date with all the fantastic work we’re doing.
I love to train people, I’m proud to be able to empower others to do their jobs well and to be able to make informed decisions on a daily basis.
I jumped at the chance to work for Athena Care Homes after meeting Mala and other members of the senior team. This is a company with a holistic approach to training and career development, one where ideas from individuals are heard and taken into account.
I was born in Australia to Italian parents and love to travel, exploring new places and things as I go.
I have been in the UK since 2001, am currently based in Ipswich and have two teenage children. I also love gardening, although don’t seem to be very good at it, and am fascinated by the history of the UK.
I qualified as a building surveyor 25 years ago, and have been in property ever since mainly in the role of property and estates manager.
I’ve been working in the healthcare sector for more than 20 years and have worked for several care providers as well as a construction company.
At Athena, I oversee the larger refurbishment projects, assisting with service contracts, tenders, capex and future expansion developments for the business.
I’m originally from the West Midlands and have lived in Oxford, Swindon and Colchester but now live with my partner Tracey on the coast just outside Lowestoft. I’m a dad to a three-year-old called Elvis - a miniature Dachshund sausage dog.
My hobbies include building Lego, and being a bit of a petrol head, watching motorsport and generally enjoying my weekends being so close to the coast.
I am looking forward to seeing Athena grow.
In my role as a Quality Manager, I have a passion and continuous drive to ensure there are sustained healthcare processes and our staff are empowered to achieve their goal of continuously providing effective, safe and person-centred care.
I love working within the Athena Care Family and the company values are something that everyone believes in and works hard each day to ensure are fulfilled.
I love the outdoors and in my free time, myself and my husband, love walking and exploring new places. We are currently have a project to convert a camper van which will help with future exploration.
I moved to the Care industry in 2021 and haven't looked back. It's broadened my horizons, and has given me the chance to make a difference to people's lives in their homes.
One of the things that attracted me to Athena was their willingness to strive for better and to progress and advance. We say it's 'Our family caring for yours' and I'm proud to be part of our growing family
