At Athena Care Homes we’re celebrating our 10th anniversary in a meaningful way by bringing the total number of trees planted for our residents to 10,000.
As part of our celebrations to mark a decade of care and commitment, an apple tree will be planted at each of the seven Athena care homes, symbolising the 10,000 trees planted since Athena Care Homes was formed in September 2014.
This initiative reflects our dedication to environmental sustainability and ongoing efforts to create a lasting legacy for future generations.
The tree planting events will involve town mayors, long-serving team members, and, most importantly, our residents. These events underscore Athena’s community spirit and commitment to creating a nurturing and connected environment. As an independent and family-owned provider, Athena Care Homes prides itself on a core philosophy of care and compassion that permeates every aspect of our operations.
Starting with Kings Lynn care home Amberley Hall in 2014, Athena Care Homes has expanded, now encompassing a group of seven homes located across East Anglia. Despite growth, we remain true to our founding principles, ensuring each home is a warm, welcoming, and safe environment for residents.
Environmental consciousness is a key priority for us at Athena Care Homes. We plant a tree for every new resident who joins the family at one of our care homes. This initiative aims to create a lasting environmental legacy and highlights Athena’s dedication to reducing our ecological footprint.
The 10,000 trees funded to date by Athena are planted for us by climate action platform Ecologi across various projects including reforestation in Kenya and Mozambique, creating mangrove plantations in Madagascar and forest gardens in Tanzania and Uganda.
Beyond tree planting, we have taken steps to promote sustainability within our homes, partnering with local suppliers and continually exploring energy efficiency measures to minimise our impact on the environment.
As Athena Care Homes celebrates this milestone 10th anniversary, the company reflects on a decade of achievements and is looking forward to continuing its mission of providing care in a sustainable and compassionate way.
The planting of 10,000 trees is not just a symbol of our growth over the past ten years, but also a testament to our team’s commitment to making a positive impact on the world around us.
As we look to the future, Athena continues to uphold the values that have been at the heart of the journey, ensuring that our family will always be there to care for yours.
