Yesterday we celebrated International Nurses’ Day across our family of care homes, recognising the care support our nurses provide at Athena Care Homes.
There was time to sit and share something to eat and drink along with small gifts to show appreciation of everything our nurses do for our residents every day.
International Nurses Day is held every year on May 12 – the birthday of Florence Nightingale, founder of modern nursing and recognises that nursing is not a ‘calling’ or a ‘vocation’. It’s a highly skilled and safety-critical profession, requiring remarkable dedication, professionalism and expertise.
Nurses work in a vast variety of settings – from GP surgeries and hospitals to care homes and prisons. But no matter where they are, they are relied upon for care and compassion, knowledge and skills.
As well as celebrating our own nurses our Customer Relationship Managers also went out into our local communities with some gifts from Athena Care Homes for the nurses working in the care sector locally.
