Meet The Deputy Manager

Bernie is the Deputy Manager here at Alex Wood House.

Caring for elderly people has always been close to her heart from an early age. Bernie’s mum worked in domiciliary care, and when she joined Alex Wood House as a Care Assistant at 18 years old, she knew this was her calling in life. Throughout the years at the home, Bernie has obtained her NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care and Leadership and Management – and has been studying for her Level 5 Diploma.

After nearly 20 years at the home, she has progressed from Senior Care Assistant to Lead Practitioner and now Deputy Manager. In Bernie’s role, she fully appreciates her responsibility to all our residents, their families, and our wider community.

Bernie is extremely proud to help lead such an amazing team and to continually strive for the highest standards, ensuring that our residents receive outstanding, person-centred care every single day. Memory Care is a particular passion of hers, and she is dedicated to enabling those living with dementia at Alex Wood House to continue living fulfilled lives, especially through our tailored Lifestyles Programme.

Administration Manager
Supports the smooth day-to-day running of Alex Wood House by overseeing the home’s administrative functions. From communication and record-keeping to supporting residents, families and visitors, his organised and approachable manner helps everything run efficiently.

Care

Team Leaders
Our Team Leaders play a key role in guiding daily care across the home. They support colleagues, coordinate care and help make sure every resident receives attentive, compassionate support.

Carers
Our carers provide hands-on, person-centred support tailored to each resident’s needs. Whether helping with everyday routines or offering companionship, they promote comfort, dignity and independence in everything they do.

Catering & Housekeeping

Our catering and housekeeping teams help create a true home-from-home environment. From freshly prepared meals to clean, comfortable living spaces, their work makes an important contribution to residents’ quality of life every day.
