Athena Care Homes is a family-owned business operating seven award-winning care homes in Norfolk, Ipswich, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
Beginning with Amberley Hall in 2014, the company has grown year-on-year to become a group of seven care homes for the elderly, located across East Anglia.
It is important to all at Athena that each of our private care homes is a comfortable environment with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Each of our residential nursing homes is regulated and registered by the Care Quality Commission. We are proud to provide an outstanding standard of care.
As a group of person-centred care homes with family values at our very core, you can be confident in knowing that our family will care for yours.
We want to be the first choice for high quality dementia, nursing and residential care, leaving a positive legacy within our communities.
Our residential nursing homes are managed by amazing and passionate people, including a home manager, designated clinical care leaders, and a dedicated hospitality services team to keep everything running smoothly.
We hold our values close to our hearts, and ensure that team members throughout each of our residential nursing homes understand them and what importance they hold. We approach everything we do with thought and we deliver it with passion.
We aim to deliver exceptional care for all of our residents. The ‘authentic’ part is from the daughter of one of our residents. She explained our care was ‘authentic’ because she hears the conversations our team have with her Mum when she’s on Facetime. She was confident our team always treated her Mum with kindness, dignity and offered real, authentic care.
We want to create memories for our residents, their loved ones and our team. Whether that’s putting a smile on someone’s face or creating a unique moment through our lifestyles activities and events.
We want to offer each other support at all times. Whether that’s to our residents, team members, friends, family or our community partners. We are all working together to deliver our vision.
At Athena we celebrate everyone as an individual. Whether that’s delivering authentic care, supporting our team to make moments for our residents and their loved ones, or whether that’s learning and growing together.
Being conscious of our impact on the environment is really important to us. That's why we're working really hard to reduce our impact and be more sustainable in everything we do at our residential nursing homes.
Within our homes we've partnered with local suppliers, our residents grow their own veggies in the garden and we continuously investigate energy efficiency measures at all of our homes to minimise our impact.
There's lots more we do too! You can find more in our brochure below.
While the business has grown, she's passionate that family values are still at the centre of everything we do.
With the four values for the company being Delivering Authentic Care, Making Moments Together, Celebrating Every Individual and Being There for Each Other, you can be confident knowing that our family will care for yours.
In the last few years, we have won awards across our industry and, in 2020, Athena Care Homes was named as one of the London Stock Exchanges’ 1000 companies to inspire. We’re members of the Care Workers’ Charity and work hard to make sure our staff and homes are key parts of our local communities.

My role here at Athena Care Homes is as Clinical and Quality Director which gives me great responsibility and with that a great opportunity to do the best I can to support our residents to live well and happy lives.
I enjoy being part of organisations that have a true focus on care, for both residents and for colleagues – hence why I am here at Athena.
During my time in the sector I have helped companies grow successfully via acquisition, redevelopment and new builds, always keeping internal and external stakeholders well informed.
I have been using this experience to help Athena maintain high standards, whilst ensuring we have the financial resources, processes and reporting to help us grow as an organisation and as a team.
In tune with Athena’s ethos, I place a lot of value in family and I am proud of being a dad to three daughters and a husband to my wife, Angela.
I enjoy going to the gym (most) mornings and towing our tin tent around the country for memorable holidays with family and friends.
I consider it a privilege to be leading the HR team here at Athena. I feel I can support people that do an extremely important job, and that gives me a huge amount of satisfaction.
