About Langdon House Care Home, Cambridge

Langdon House Care Home is an exceptional residential care home in Cambridge. At Langdon House we pride ourselves on our family-feel, attractive gardens and providing outstanding care to each of our residents. We’re based in a quiet nook in Chesterton on the north eastern side of Cambridge, three miles from the city centre. Our home offers fantastic 24-hour care to up to 51 residents.

We have two residential care homes in Cambridge, as well as care facilities in March, Peterborough, Kings Lynn and Ipswich.

Home Manager at Langdon House
Andreea Militaru
Home Manager

Andreea joined us towards the end of 2024 and brings a wealth of experience and a passion for care to her new role.

She began her nursing journey overseas before moving to the UK in 2014 and has quickly progressed to lead our home.

Outside of work, Andreea’s two children keep her busy, but when she does take a moment to unwind, you’ll likely find her with a good crime thriller in hand.

We as a family got great comfort from knowing that Dad was cared for so brilliantly with affection, which mattered to us so much as we live so far away. I was so worried about not being able to come into the home to see mum but she is clearly always happy and smiling. The staff have always let me know how mum is doing, without me having to ask. Pictures are online and no time is too much of a problem to ring and speak to mum. I don’t know how these staff keep so cheerful and I don’t know what I’d have done without them.

Nutrition at our care home, Cambridge

Our freshly home cooked meals play a central role in the resident experience here at Langdon House. Seasonal menus are designed with the help of our residents at regular food forums, and our menus can be easily adapted to ensure we cater for all dietary needs. If the residents fancy something a little different, we’re pleased to be able to further enhance our menus by offering light bites and alternative choices.

We work closely with local suppliers to make sure we have the very best quality produce to offer, and our creative kitchen team enjoy using food to offer new experiences and world cuisines to the residents.

Activities at Langdon House, Cambridge

Making every moment matter is just as important to us as the standard of care we deliver at Langdon House. Our main focus is ensuring that our residents’ needs are at the heart of everything we do. When a new resident joins us, we invest time in understanding their life story, their hobbies and the important people in their lives. We use this information to encourage our residents to live life the way they choose, with laughter and love.

Residents are encouraged to personalise their bedrooms by bringing furniture from home and our dedicated maintenance team are on hand to hang pictures and photographs to create a ‘home from home’.

Regular feedback forums give residents and family members the opportunity to suggest new experiences, outings and events, ensuring that our activities programme is varied, engaging, and reflects the choices and interests of our residents.

Langdon House is a residential, respite, and dementia care home in Cambridge. It is vital that our accessible activities programmes promote inclusivity and are continuously adapted and reviewed for the changing needs of our residents. You can view an example activity calendar here.

We strive for new and creative ways to meet the physical, intellectual, social and spiritual needs of our residents, including some of them starring in this brochure! Our regular clubs include gardening, exercise classes, quizzes and church services and we use our links with local schools and nurseries, churches and businesses to enhance our resident experience. We also know how to throw a good party and can often find the residents and team dancing and singing along to live entertainment.

Being sustainable and reducing our impact goes hand in hand with our mission to provide exceptional care to our residents. Since 2021 we’ve planted a tree for every new resident and we continuously work to source our food locally, improve our efficiency and much more.

24 hour care, most activities, all meals and non-alcoholic drinks are all included in your fee.

There’s a cost for:

  • Toiletries
  • Beauty treatments like massages, nails and hair dressing.
  • Some outings.
  • Some alcoholic drinks.
  • Subscriptions for papers, magazines, premium TV channels and phone lines

Our fees at Langdon House typically range from £1,450 to £2,000 per week depending on specific care needs..

Controlling infection outbreaks as soon as they appear is vital, the quicker the reaction, the sooner we can stop the spread. Langdon House is dedicated to protecting its residents from any infection. With the recent pandemic, we have stepped up our infection control measures.
