Activities at Amberley Hall Care Home, Norfolk

Making every moment matter is just as important to us as the standard of care we deliver at Amberley Hall. Our main focus is ensuring that our residents’ needs are at the heart of everything we do. When a new resident joins us, we invest time in understanding their life story, their hobbies and the important people in their lives. We use this information to encourage our residents to live life the way they choose, with laughter and love.

Residents are encouraged to personalise their bedrooms by bringing furniture from home and our dedicated maintenance team are on hand to hang pictures and photographs to create a ‘home from home’.

Regular feedback forums give residents and family members the opportunity to suggest new experiences, outings and events, ensuring that our activities programme is varied, engaging, and reflects the choices and interests of our residents.

Amberley Hall is a residential, respite, nursing, palliative and dementia care home, Kings Lynn. It is vital that our accessible activities programmes promote inclusivity and are continuously adapted and reviewed for the changing needs of our residents. You can view an example activity calendar here.

We strive for new and creative ways to meet the physical, intellectual, social and spiritual needs of our residents, including some of them starring in this brochure! Our regular clubs include gardening, exercise classes, quizzes and church services and we use our links with local schools and nurseries, churches and businesses to enhance our resident experience. We also know how to throw a good party and can often find the residents and team dancing and singing along to live entertainment.

Nutrition at our care home, Norfolk

Our freshly home cooked meals play a central role in the resident experience here at Amberley Hall. Seasonal menus are designed with the help of our residents at regular food forums, and our menus can be easily adapted to ensure we cater for all dietary needs. If the residents fancy something a little different, we’re pleased to be able to further enhance our menus by offering light bites and alternative choices.

We work closely with local suppliers to make sure we have the very best quality produce to offer, and our creative kitchen team enjoy using food to offer new experiences and world cuisines to the residents.

Each of our care homes has a home manager, Hospitality Services Manager and designated Clinical Care Leaders. These key members work together to keep the home in check and running smoothly.
Katy Hughes
General Manager

Katy Hughes has worked in care since she was a teenager, coming home from her first day as a carer at a home for elderly people and telling her mum she had found exactly what she wanted to do. She went on to manage her first residential care home aged just 25.

Katy brings a wealth of care sector experience with her to Amberley Hall and has worked since 1997 for various companies, with people with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour as well as those living with dementia, including early onset dementia.

Having heard positive things about Athena Care Homes, Katy is enjoying getting to know the team, the residents and their families at Amberley Hall. She sees good things ahead for Amberley Hall where work and support are ongoing. It’s a home where there is always something going on with a wide range of activities for the residents to enjoy.

As General Manager, Katy is passionate about getting the home’s CQC rating improved in recognition of everything which has been done to make changes and improvements at the home.

Katy lives in Norfolk and, having been bought up in a city, loves the country life and enjoys spending time in the countryside with her family, her cat and her two dogs. When she has time Katy also loves film, theatre, music and singing.
