It’s World Bee Day on the 20th May and we’re celebrating the gardens at our homes today. While beautiful gardens are fantastic for our pollinators, insects and wildlife generally, they are also brilliant spaces for us.
Spending time in green space and bringing nature into our day to day lives can be a real boost for our mental and physical well-being. You might have noticed that we often share examples of our green efforts on our social media pages. That’s because growing food, flowers, exercising outdoors or being around animals can all have some fantastic effects.
Amongst the benefits are these which the charity Mind promote:
- Reduced stress and anger
- Taking time to yourself and feeling more relaxed
- Improved physical health and activity
- Boosted confidence and self-esteem
- Improved mood
- Making new connections and friends
We especially like growing plants from seed in our homes. There’s something about nurturing a plant from seed to bloom which fills us all with pride. This is why we’re heading out to the garden at our homes and we can’t wait until they’re in full bloom this summer!
