Our residents at Goodwins Hall embarked on a unique day of culinary and cultural experience with Romanian Day.
The team wanted to offer residents a glimpse into the traditional food and culture of Romania. They created an “Arm Chair Travel day” to provide something exciting for both the taste buds and the mind!
Residents started their experience by boarding the Cinema in airplane fashion. It was complete with boarding passes and passports. They enjoyed a virtual flight whilst the activities team, who were dressed in flight attendants uniform, gave a full safety demonstration, before serving a range of snacks and handing out the inflight magazine. Once in Romania, the residents were treated to our Romanian staff wearing traditional costumes and a talk on the country, before tucking in to some delicious food!
For lunch, residents enjoyed Varza Calita, which is slow cooked pork and cabbage in a tomato sauce with mashed potato, polenta and veggies. Before finishing off with Prajitura Cu Mere – a lovely Apple Meringue Cake. The day concluded with a Romanian treats trolley toured around the home so all our residents were able to enjoy the festivities.
Anton, Goodwins Hall’s Hospitality Services Manager said, “The residents had a wonderful time, enjoying every element of the day, especially the music and folk dancing”.
