Our residents at Goodwins Hall Care Home in Kings Lynn, embarked on another unique day of culinary and cultural experience, this time heading to the Philippines!
Our team wanted to offer residents an insight into the traditions, culture and food of the Philippines. They created an “Arm Chair Travel day” to provide something exciting for both the mind and senses!
Residents started their experience by boarding airplane style in the cinema, complete with boarding passes and passports. Our virtual flight with the activities team – dressed in flight attendants uniform – gave a full safety demonstration, before serving a range of snacks and handing out the inflight magazine. Once in the Philippines, the residents were greeted by our Filipino staff wearing traditional costumes before delivering an interesting talk on the country! That was followed by some traditional dancing!
After a busy sight-seeing schedule our residents tucked in to a tasty, authentic noodle lunch before enjoying fried plantain for dessert. As the trip wrapped up, the visit finished with an awesome purple yam cake as part of afternoon tea.
Anton, Goodwins Hall’s Hospitality Services Manager said, “The residents always embrace their travel days, show great interest in learning about other cultures and traditions and genuinely have a thoroughly good time”.
