At Athena Care Homes we have launched an ambitious bid to have every member of staff complete dedicated dementia awareness training.
Starting with refresher sessions for frontline staff, we are aiming to have every member of our team, including the central support team, complete this training by the end of 2021.
The sessions include dedicated a practical demonstration of how challenging and disorienting it can be to complete every day tasks to aid our team’s understanding of the effects of dementia, a theory and discussion session to share ideas and best practice, and we wrap up with a brief recap and knowledge check.
As the number of people in the UK living with dementia is forecast to pass 1 million for the first time this year and then 2 million by 2051, we’re ensuring our team has the skills and knowledge to support your loved ones at every turn.
