The residents at Goodwins Hall Care Home in Kings Lynn are celebrating after their home grown fruit and veg won awards at a local horticultural show.
After working hard all winter and spring, the gardening club decided to put their best produce in for judging as part of Kings Lynn Horticultural Society’s Annual Show.
With entries put forward for a variety of categories, the home triumphed for their carrots and runner beans, with an array of second place finishes too.
With such a broad range of successes, Goodwins took home the Banksian Medal. That’s the award for the largest total amount of points in the whole of the horticultural classes.
Anton, Goodwins’ Hospitality Services Manager, said of the award, “It’s a fantastic recognition for our residents and gardeners alike. The Garden is such a big part of life here at Goodwins, our residents are involved with all aspects of the garden, from planting seeds to enjoying its space on a sunny day. We are all so proud and pleased for them”.
A huge congratulations to our residents for their hard work! Don’t forget to keep an eye on Goodwins Hall’s Facebook page to see some of their innovative uses for their home grown produce!
