Kelvin, one of our carers at Avocet Court Care Home in Ipswich, has been branded a “hospital hero” after braving the shave in honour of his Mum.
Kelvin’s Mum is currently being treated for Stomach Cancer and Kelvin took on the Brave the Shave challenge raising an inspiring £560 along the way!
Kelvin said, “I recently got my head shaved to support my mum who has stomach cancer and has lost her hair due to treatment. I wanted to shave my head to raise some money to donate to Woolverstone Wing [at Ipswich Hospital]. I work in care looking after the elderly [and] I wanted my residents to be involved.”
Kelvin invited some of our residents to help him with his head shaving! He said, “I got them to shave my head first with hair clippers then with a razor to which they all enjoyed…. I hope this small donation made will go towards helping my mum and others in the future. The staff on the Woolverstone Wing have been outstanding and I can’t thank them enough for what they do day in day out.”
A huge well done Kelvin and the Avocet Court residents and team, from all of us at Athena Care Homes!
