We’re delighted to share that Athena Care Homes has been shortlisted in two categories for the inaugural Dementia Care Awards 2024.
The Intergenerational Activity Award and The Outreach Award both showcase areas extremely close to our heart at Athena with both centred around activities which benefit our residents and the communities which we proud to be a part of.
The Intergenerational Activity Award celebrates an area which we know enhances lives throughout our homes where we share on a daily basis the joy that bringing young people into our homes gives to our residents living with dementia. Our nomination this year centres around Aria Care Home in March, Cambridgeshire.
The Outreach Award recognises projects which have been developed and implemented to support those affected by dementia both in our homes and in the community and our nomination focuses on Singing for the Brain which is being rolled out across all of our homes in East Anglia.
Athena Care Homes Chief Operating Office Mandy Cockram said, “We are pleased and proud to be recognised as shortlisted finalists in these awards. At Athena our teams work tirelessly to enhance the lives of our residents and enjoy introducing innovative and exciting activities for them which often extend to, and benefit, our communities, loved ones and families as well.”
The Dementia Care Awards have been set up to celebrate excellence in dementia care and are supported by organisations including Care England and Birmingham Newman University. By recognising and celebrating excellence in dementia services, these awards not only honour the hard work and dedication of those in the field but also serve as a platform for sharing best practices and innovative approaches.
The awards seek to inspire others to adopt person-centred approaches to dementia care and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the dementia care community.
The shortlisted finalists will celebrate together at a gala event on June 13th when the winners will be announced.
