Residents at Avocet Court Care Home enjoyed a buzzing day of learning, creativity and community spirit as they celebrated World Bee Day on Wednesday 20th May with a special visit from Orwell Honey.
The event brought residents together for an engaging and educational presentation all about bees, their importance to the environment and the role individuals can play in helping to protect them for future generations.
Representatives from Orwell Honey shared fascinating insights into the life of bees, how hives are cared for and the challenges facing bee populations worldwide. Residents had the opportunity to ask questions, learn practical ways to support pollinators in their own gardens and discover why bees remain such an important part of the ecosystem.
Bee-theme Activity Sparks Competition with Residents
The day also included a fun bee-themed quiz, which sparked plenty of laughter and friendly competition among residents and staff.
One of the highlights of the event was a hands-on craft activity where residents created their own bee drinking cups using shells collected from the beach. These simple wildlife-friendly creations can be placed in gardens to provide bees with safe places to drink during warmer weather.
Residents thoroughly enjoyed the experience, with many commenting on how much they had learned throughout the day.
