Residents’ meetings at Aria Court are always popular events and it’s great to catch up with our VIP’s friends and family. In amongst all of the updates from our home, we also find out what our extended family has been up to. This month Amanda told us all about her recent fundraising.
Amanda decided to take on Dementia UK’s September challenge, because she explained that dementia affects so many people, with the goal being to walk 30 miles throughout the month to raise vital funds and awareness, incidentally this was the same challenge Nikky and Chelsea took on at Avocet Court! Initially, the challenge seemed like plenty to keep Amanda busy, but after seeing how far she covered on her daily dog walks, she ended up covering over 126 miles as you can see below! That’s almost the distance from London to Cardiff!
Aside from smashing through her walking targets, Amanda initially wanted to raise £100, but after hitting her initial target and £150 in short order, she ended up raising £290 for Dementia UK!
While Amanda doesn’t have another fundraiser planned immediately, she’s been looking at other options like Dementia walks and she tells us that she’s sure she’ll be involved with some more charity fundraising shortly!
A huge congratulations from all of us at Aria Court and Athena Care Homes!
