At Amberley Hall, we plant 5 trees for every new resident who moves into our home, we’re conscious of our impact in all that we do and we always strive to improve the energy efficiency of our home.
The energy our new boilers will save each year is enough to power your smartphone for 250,000 years
Our latest initiative isn’t all that glamourous, but we’ve recently upgraded our boilers at the Amberley Hall. Our old boiler had an efficiency of around 68%. Our shiny new system though, has 99.8% efficiency. While that might not mean a huge amount to most of us, it means that our boilers now use almost every bit of heat they make. That means we need to use less energy to power them – just over half a million kw hours of energy over a year – and it also means a reduction in CO2 emissions of over 105 tonnes per year! For context the average smartphone uses about 2kw of energy per year, so the energy our new boilers save each year would be roughly enough to power your phone for 250,000 years!
The savings come from some clever tech in the new boilers which help to recycle the heat produced, instead of it just being lost into the outside air. This is what gives the system efficiency close to 100%.
Athena’s Managing Director, Mala Agarwal, said, “We want our company to have a lasting legacy, not just through great quality of care… but by also reducing our impact on our planet and this is another step on that journey.”
