We’d like to introduce you to Kerri, our Customer Relationship Manager for Amberley Hall and Goodwins Hall in Kings Lynn. Outside of work Kerri has a huge range of varied interests, one of which is singing.
Kerri’s singing shot her to local prominence during lockdown when she entertained her street, and Kings Lynn more widely, with live music performances which raised money for local charities.
Last year, Kerri and her band were approached, as part of Marie Curie’s promotional work, to produce a song for their annual East Anglian service. Having been impressed with their efforts last year, Kerri’s band have been invited to produce a song for Marie Curie’s national campaign this year.
We’ve asked Kerri a little bit more about her story and how Athena Care Homes been able to support her with her efforts this year!
Tell us how you get involved in Marie Curie’s competition and what’s happened this year?
Our band, We are Rane (Named because of the unfortunate weather every time we went to the studio!) were approached last year to write a single for Marie Curie’s East Anglian lights remembrance service.
Last year we made a song called ‘Light The Love’ which was a regional service for East Anglia to be featured in the Marie Curie Annual Lights Remembrance Service. This year, because they were so impressed with the song, we were asked to produce another song.
This year, our song is called ‘Light within my heart’. The words are a collaboration, but they’re really special to me because I recently lost my Godfather. I hope that experience gives our words a real meaning and are something which people can relate to
How did Athena help with your song this year?
Athena sponsored the recording of the song at Crystal Sound Studios in Docking. The studio time was invaluable and it’s freed up resources for us to produce a video, which wouldn’t have been possible without Athena’s support.
It’s really great to be able to work for a company which supports their team’s initiatives and the local community as much as Athena does. I know a lot of our residents and their loved ones will have experience of Marie Curie’s services, so it’s great for Athena to be able to support this.
What happens next?
Our song will be used by Marie Curie in their Lights To Remember service shortly. After that we’ll be releasing the song on the 9th December (it’ll be available on all your favourite streaming services) and all proceeds will be donated to Marie Curie!
Will you be Christmas no. 1?
It would be amazing to be wouldn’t it? Probably not though, but knowing we’re making a difference and supporting people through our music is an amazing feeling.
