We are excited to reveal we are taking another step forward in our mission to reduce our environmental impact.
We have committed to using eco-friendly, non-hazardous cleaner OdorBac across all five care homes in East Anglia.
The fluid is delivered as a concentrate and diluted on site to reduce transport costs and emissions, and it is 100% biodegradable.
As well as being better for the environment than some traditional cleaners, OdorBac manufacturers 2Pure offer a refill scheme using LoopBox. Teams at our homes simply repack the empty containers in the boxes they were delivered in and return them to be washed and refilled, meaning it is a zero-waste, closed-loop system.
Here at Athena Care Homes we are committed to protecting our environment and leaving a lasting legacy for our residents. We plant five trees for each resident that moves in to one of our care homes and have installed new boilers that are 99% efficient.
We organise the annual Athena In Bloom competition between the five homes in the region, with categories including wildlife conservation project, use of homegrown produce and sustainability project.
Athena has also invested in renewable energy sources, installing solar panels on the roofs of our homes.
Katherine Foley, Group Operations Director at Athena Care Homes, said: “We are constantly looking at ways to reduce waste, reuse items that may otherwise end up at landfill and look at suppliers and contractors who are environmentally conscious.
“For us, OdorBac was an obvious choice. The suppliers have made every effort to reduce their impact on the planet while creating a product that provides the effective cleaning in a variety of scenarios which also makes our cleaning regimes more efficient.”
