Here at Athena, we’re lucky enough to have some of the most artistically talented residents under our roof, and two of these happen to live at one of our King’s Lynn care homes – Goodwins Hall.
Team leader, Klaudia, noticed some of the exceptional artwork her residents have created, so decided to hold an exhibition to showcase the beautiful paintings and art pieces to residents, plus their family and friends at Goodwins Hall.
Klaudia really went above and beyond for our artists Anthony Leakey and Sylvia Parr. Putting together an excellent showcase, which left our residents and visitors alike, marvelling at the artwork and bringing to life the family values that are at the core of everything that our team does at Athena Care Homes.
Sylvia, the first of our artists, was born in Yaxley, Cambridgeshire in 1935, and attended Fletton County School. She has always loved doing sketches, drawings and doodling since she was little, and enjoyed it as a hobby to pass the time. Sylvias drawings and paintings are absolutely incredible, and she says that “every time I have a hold of a sketch pad, pencils and colours I feel free and relaxed.” Goodwins Hall were delighted to exhibit her artwork to friends and family, in her one-woman show named ‘Scribbles’ featuring 15 pieces of her favourite art works she has created.
Anthony’s artwork is very different to Sylvia’s and has a unique aura. With some pieces taking up to a month to complete, each one is incredibly detailed and completely unique. The pieces reflect beautifully in the light and after being framed by the team, added such a beautiful vibe to the cinema room.
The artistic duo plan to keep creating and look forward to showcasing more of their work in the future!
