Residents at Goodwins Hall recently enjoyed a trip the great barrier reef, a helicopter ride over LA, a walk around the Titanic and a swim with great white sharks – all within the space of an hour!
We welcomed local firm Virtuam VR, to our King’s Lynn care home, Goodwins Hall, to give our residents an experience of Virtual Reality and experience amazing parts of our planet and solar system, without having to leave their seats.
Customer Relationship Manager Kerri Rasberry said ‘I just love how we can take our residents anywhere in the world from the comfort of their home. It certainly put a smile on my face seeing the curiosity and joy that came from our residents during the session.’
The residents were able to look at the solar system, take a trip around the titanic, visit the great barrier reef, visit Notre Dame in Paris, swim with seals, as well as fly in a helicopter! We often like to take our residents on armchair travels, so to be able to elevate their experience with VR Headsets brought something new to their adventures. It was a pleasure to see many of them so excited and fascinated by the new experience.
Jason, owner of Virtuam VR, said ‘it was amazing for us to take our Virtual Reality experience into a care home for the first time, and we’re so glad the residents of Goodwins Hall enjoyed it so much. We find that people often respond much better to visual things rather than written or hearing, so it was great to see the residents excited and getting involved with our VR headsets and different locations within.’
