In a heartwarming celebration of festive spirit and community joy, Avocet Court was awarded second place in the annual Best House Decorations category of the Light Up Ipswich competition for 2023.
The competition, organised by Tom Hunt MP, brings the entire town together in a dazzling display of holiday lights, and Avocet Court’s achievement stands as a testament to the exceptional efforts of its dedicated team.
Avocet Court went above and beyond in transforming the home into a winter wonderland. The display featured an array of amazing lights, including a charming igloo and a walk-through tunnel in the garden. The addition of candy canes added a touch of sweetness to the overall spectacle, much to the delight of residents, visiting families, and especially the children.
In a letter to the home Mr Hunt commended Avocet Court for going the extra mile to spread festive joy throughout the community.
He said, “Avocet Court’s festive lights and decorations continue to go above and beyond in lighting up the town with Christmas joy and I am certain that it is greatly appreciated by all the residents.
“It is clear that you have put in an incredible amount of time and effort in sharing your Christmas joy with all of Ipswich.
Home Manager Ruth Garnham was delighted with the comments saying that Christmas is always a wonderful time at Avocet Court.
Her special thanks go to carer Leon, his partner Hannah, and their dedicated crew for their tireless efforts in making Avocet Court’s lights and decorations absolutely spectacular this year.
The team’s hard work and dedication were evident in the final result and it just remains this week for the display to be dismantled and packed away ready for Christmas 2024.
