We are delighted to welcome Beverley Murray back to Langdon House in Cambridge as our new Home Manager. For Beverley, this new role feels a bit like coming full circle—Langdon House is where she began her career in care 25 years ago, starting as a carer.
Since then, she has built a wealth of experience in the care sector, and we’re thrilled to have her back where it all started.
Beverley’s career path is a testament to her dedication and passion for care. She quickly worked her way up from a carer to assistant manager when she previously worked at Langdon House. When the opportunity to take on a new challenge arose, she moved to another care home and then to Alex Wood House, Langdon’s sister home, where she served as a Night Team Leader for five years.
Most recently, Beverley was a Home Manager in Cambridge, where she spent nine years leading the team and ensuring residents received the highest level of care. Her experience and leadership skills make her a perfect fit to lead Langdon House through this exciting new chapter.
Beverley says returning to Langdon House is a little “surreal” but incredibly rewarding. “There’s something so familiar about it,” she says. “It’s like coming home.” Beverley is looking forward to getting to know the Langdon House community, including her team, her residents and their families. She plans to hold “Meet the Manager” sessions soon, to get to know everyone better and hear what matters most to them but stresses her door is always open if people want to pop in for a chat.
Langdon House became part of the Athena Care Homes family just over a year ago, and Beverley is excited to be joining at such a dynamic time. She appreciates the supportive, family-run nature of Athena, which makes everyone feel valued and appreciated. “I like the fact that Athena is a small, family-run business where you genuinely feel like a part of something special,” she shares.
Beverley lives in Duxford and is a proud mother of four grown up children and grandmother to ten grandchildren, ranging in age from 18 years to just a few weeks old. Although her family is spread across the UK, from nearby to Ireland and Scotland, they keep her busy and bring her great joy. Outside of work, she loves catching up with friends over a nice meal and staying connected with her loved ones.
With Beverley at the helm, Langdon House is set for more success, she brings a wealth of experience, a friendly face, and a passion for making a difference.
Welcome back, Beverley! We’re so glad to have you back at Langdon House.
