At Avocet Court care home, we are always looking for ways to make our home an extra special place for our residents so we were delighted to welcome the Ipswich Blanketeers, who brought with them not just their talent, but also their generosity and kindness.
This was the second time the Ipswich Blanketeers had come to Avocet Court and this time they met with some of our residents and gifted them with about 50 beautifully handmade blankets. Each one was either crocheted or knitted with care, featuring intricate designs, vibrant colours, and a special ‘Blanketeer’ button along with a personalised label.
Our residents were overjoyed to receive these thoughtful gifts, which have added warmth and an extra personal touch to their rooms.
The Ipswich Blanketeers create these blankets for patients and their families in hospitals as well as for care home residents. Their mission is to provide comfort, and at Avocet Court, we have witnessed firsthand how meaningful these blankets are to our residents.
Home Manager Ruth Garnham shared her appreciation, saying, “We are incredibly grateful to the Ipswich Blanketeers for using their time and skills in this way, and to all the generous people who donate wool to them. The blankets are absolutely beautiful, made with such great detail, and every resident who received one is thrilled. It was lovely for some of the Ipswich Blanketeers to be able to be there when residents received their blankets and see what a lot these things mean to people.”
It was a heartwarming day at Avocet Court, and we extend our deepest thanks to the Ipswich Blanketeers for their kindness. Their visit and their handmade gifts have truly made a difference in our community.
