Avocet Court Care Home was filled with colour, fragrance and festive cheer just before Christmas, thanks to a generous donation from Thompson & Morgan, the UK’s largest mail-order seed and plant company.
The Ipswich-based business, which is local to Avocet Court, got in touch after finding themselves with a surplus of plants ahead of the Christmas shutdown. Rather than see them go to waste, the team wanted to ensure the plants brought joy, and what better place than a care home at the heart of the community?
True to their word, the Thompson & Morgan team arrived with a van packed full of beautiful hyacinth planters, all carefully chosen to brighten both the home and its gardens. In total, more than 115 planters were delivered, creating smiles all round.
Each resident received their own planter to enjoy in their room, while the remaining plants were displayed throughout the home, instantly lifting spirits and adding a welcome splash of colour during the winter months.
Looking ahead to spring, the joy will continue to grow. The plants will be replanted into the gardens surrounding Avocet Court, with residents from the home’s gardening club, Sow Wonderful Gardening and Wellbeing Club, working together to decide where each one should be placed.
