At Avocet Court Care Home, we are always proud to celebrate the diverse cultures that make up our incredible team and community. Our home came alive with colour, flavour, and joy as we marked “Ghana Independence Day” with a special celebration led by our Ghanaian colleagues.
Our dedicated team members, Francis and Nicholas, delivered a heartfelt and engaging presentation for both staff and residents. They shared insights into Ghana’s rich history, vibrant culture, and what they personally love most about their home country. It was a wonderful opportunity for everyone to learn something new and connect through shared experiences.
The celebrations continued with a delicious culinary experience, as Japhet and Patience prepared a variety of traditional Ghanaian dishes for everyone to enjoy. Residents and staff alike were delighted to try new flavours and take part in this cultural journey through food.
To make the day even more special, staff joined in by wearing the bold and beautiful colours of Ghana – red, yellow, and green, creating a vibrant atmosphere throughout the home. The celebration wouldn’t have been complete without music and dancing, which brought smiles, laughter, and unforgettable moments for all.
The event created truly beautiful memories and highlighted the importance of inclusion, respect, and community, values that are at the heart of everything we do. It was a perfect reflection of the Athena values in action, bringing people together and celebrating what makes each of us unique.
A big thank you to everyone involved in organising such a meaningful and joyful day.
