Continuing their long-standing partnership with their local primary school, Lionel Walden, residents at Aria Court Care Home in March, Cambridgeshire, were recently invited to share their stories, experiences and memories from the Second World War.
This specific project is designed to help the children to understand the challenges and hardships of wartime Britain from a very local perspective. One of our residents recalls the story his parents told him about his birth;
"I was born during the war in Islington. My father took my mum to the hospital to have me, forgetting that the day before the hospital had been bombed... Although, they said they were closed, they still took us in."
