We’re launching our new ‘winter warmer’ initiative at Avocet Court in Ipswich. We want to support our community struggling with the cost-of-living crisis.
Starting on the 5th December, we’re offering people aged 60 and over the chance to enjoy a lovely cup of warm soup and a roll at Avocet Court Care Home in Ipswich.
The offer is available Monday to Friday between 2.00pm and 4.00pm.
Research by Asda and Age UK has shown that older members of the community are disproportionately affected by spiralling living costs. Age UK estimate that 2.8m older households will still be living in fuel poverty this winter despite the Government freezing the energy price cap.
Avocet Court’s Home Manager, Ruth Garnham, said, “We know how difficult this year has been for everyone as part of the cost of living squeeze. At Athena Care Homes we believe our care homes are at the heart of the local community. We welcome nursery groups to our homes, we have visits from a broad cross-section of the local community and we know this winter is going to be difficult for a lot of older people in March. That’s why our residents are really looking forward to welcoming people into our home this winter and we hope this initiative will make a real difference.”
