It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in our care homes across East Anglia.
At Athena Care Homes we want to ensure our residents celebrate Christmas just as they have done in years gone by, whether that be decorating a tree with precious ornaments handed down from generation to generation or attending a church service.
We encouraged residents at each of our five homes in Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire to enter our Christmas competitions. We have been so impressed with their handmade wreaths, hand-drawn Christmas cards and home-baked Christmas cakes. Our chefs have also joined in and been baking their own cakes.
Aria Court
At Aria Court in March team members and residents wrapped up warm to walk to St Peter’s Christmas tree festival in the town centre to see the beautifully decorated trees.
They have also been enjoying seasonal hot toddies from the afternoon drinks trolley during the cold snap – what better way to get into the Christmas spirit?
Ashlynn Grange
Ashlynn Grange in Peterborough had a VIP at their Christmas fayre – Santa! They welcomed family and friends, neighbours and those who have previously stayed at the home to join them for this special event.
Avocet Court
Our team at Avocet Court in Ipswich have embraced the festivities this year. Most days we find them dressed in festive hats, jumpers and even elf costumes, bringing joy to residents and guests.
Goodwins Hall
One of the latest activities we have introduced in our homes is armchair travel. This allows our residents to continue exploring the world from the comfort of their home.
In the past week residents at our Goodwins Hall Care Home in Kings Lynn have made flying visits to Iceland and Lapland. They have enjoyed the tastes, scenery and culture of these winter wonderlands. We defy you not to feel festive after a visit to either of these snowy destinations.
Amberley Hall
Our customer relationship manager Kerri Rasberry, who works across Goodwins Hall and neighbouring Kings Lynn home Amberley Hall, is preparing for the release of her charity single recorded with her band RANE for Marie Curie UK.
Kerri’s song will be played at the charity’s virtual Lights to Remember service this Christmas.
