Did you know, here at Athena Care Homes sustainability is a key part of everything we do?
We are proud of our commitment to reducing our impact on the environment and one of the ways in which we do that is by planting a tree for each resident who moves into one of our care homes in East Anglia.
We have now planted 5,000 trees with Ecologi, which vows to take real action against climate change.
As a direct result of Athena’s contributions, the organisation has been able to help with the restoration of forests in Kenya, save an endemic Moroccan fruit tree species and plant mangroves in Madagascar.
Athena Care Homes has also invested in more efficient boilers and strive to be as efficient as possible in all areas, in a bid to protect our environment for generations to come.
James Eley, Marketing Manager for Athena Care Homes, introduced the tree planting scheme back in 2021 to help off-set our carbon footprint.
He said: “Sustainability is very important to us at Athena and we want to protect our environment wherever possible.
“The tree planting scheme allows us to off-set the impact we are having on our planet. It is, however, more than that. It creates a lasting legacy and our families know that those trees planted in honour of their loved ones will be nurtured for years to come.”
