At Alex Wood House care home in Cambridge residents, family and friends recently had a special day where they invited the local community along to join them for some fun.
Inspired by the childhood favourite Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, it was a day filled with laughter, good company, and lots of activities for everyone to enjoy.
One of the best parts of the day was a Mad Hatter’s tea party which saw the team dressed up in white frilled aprons and serving delicious treats, including jam tarts made by some of the residents. It was wonderful to see everyone chatting and having a great time together.
Before the open day, Alex Wood House residents worked on some crafts to decorate the home including beautiful flower arrangements in china tea cups – tying in perfectly with the Mad Hatter’s tea party.
Special guest, Magic Merlin, amazed with his tricks and entertainment – able assisted by members of the care team. It was so much fun watching him perform as well as having a try at some plate spinning.
The open day was not just about having fun; it was also about building connections with our community. Alex Wood House is always happy to welcome their neighbours from the local community and show them what life is like at an Athena care home.
