One of the highlights of the week was the Western Themed Summer Fete, which was a huge success. The incredible day was filled with sunshine, country music, games, a delicious hog roast, sweet treats, refreshing drinks, and plenty of ice cream – there were even ducks for the hook a duck game in the Goodwin’s hall fountain.
A spectacular dance performance by the amazing team at Goodwins Hall was a standout moment, showcasing their lively spirit and ability to entertain.
A massive thank you goes out to all the wonderful visitors, relatives, and residents who joined in the fun. Residents haven’t stopped talking about their western experience and are already planning for another fete.
In addition to the fete at the Kings Lynn home, the week included a variety of enjoyable activities:

Held annually at the end of June, Care Home Open Week aims to enrich the lives of residents by inviting community members to meet them and the dedicated professionals who care for them. Through a variety of special activities and events, Goodwins Hall demonstrated that it is not only a place of excellent care but also a hub of community connection.
Athena Chief Operating Officer Mandy Cockram expressed her excitement about the week, saying, “We always have a lot going on at Athena, but it was exciting to see the plans come together in the run-up to Care Home Open Week. Our homes planned several events to appeal to various audiences, and the Western themed day at Goodwins Hall was truly spectacular.
“Great weather allowed us to spend time in our lovely grounds and I want to thank everyone involved in making the week a success for Athena. Events were well attended by guests, friends, families, and local community members, but most importantly, our residents had a great week.”
The success of Care Home Open Week at Athena Care Homes reflects our commitment to providing excellent care and fostering meaningful connections. The doors at Goodwins Hall are always open to the local community, embracing the message of Care Home Open Week and showing that care homes are places where residents can thrive, supported by dedicated professionals and a caring community.
