Residents of Goodwins Hall care home in Kings Lynn are coming together to support a remarkable endeavour by one of their own. Christine Johnson is setting out on a sponsored walk to raise funds for cancer research—a cause that is very close to her heart. Christine, who has undergone cancer treatment herself sees this as a meaningful opportunity to give back.
Christine’s journey is especially inspiring because she faces mobility challenges and is usually reliant on a walker or a wheelchair to get about so this endeavour is no small feat for her.
Despite her limited mobility, she is determined to push forward, taking a walk each day around the beautiful grounds of Goodwins Hall, with assistance and support from the Lifestyles team. Weather permitting, Christine plans to walk outdoors, but she’s equally happy to continue her mission indoors if needed.
Lifestyles Coordinator, Katie Pye, who has been a great source of encouragement for Christine, shared, “Christine is determined to do this. She’s incredibly motivated, and we’re all so proud of her commitment.”
Christine’s goal is to complete her sponsored walks over a period of 30 to 31 days. These walks don’t have to be consecutive, giving her the flexibility to pace herself based on her health and the weather.
She has chosen Cancer Research UK as the beneficiary of her efforts, as she has received exceptional care and support throughout her journey with cancer. For Christine, this walk is her way of giving back and expressing gratitude for the life-saving work of the charity.
To help spread the word and encourage support, Christine has a sponsorship form in the reception area of Goodwins. She hopes residents, visitors, and the care team will be inspired to donate and join her in supporting a cause that touches so many lives.
Christine is eager to get started and appreciates any support for her journey. Her strength and resilience are a true testament to the spirit of giving back, and her efforts serve as a reminder of the importance of supporting those affected by cancer. Let’s rally behind Christine and help her make a difference—one step at a time.
