At Athena Care Homes, we believe in the power of community, compassion, and coming together to make a difference. On Friday 26 September, our teams and residents from Goodwins Hall and Amberley Hall Care Homes joined forces to host a very special Macmillan Coffee Morning at Gaywood Church Rooms in King’s Lynn.
From 2:30pm to 5:00pm, the hall was filled with laughter, music, and the wonderful smell of freshly baked cakes. With the support of our Lifestyles team, residents, and local friends, the event quickly became a celebration of togetherness.
Guests enjoyed live music from Emily Blake, a light-hearted quiz, and a fantastic raffle. The decorations were beautifully arranged by Amberley Hall, while Goodwins Hall provided a tempting spread of homemade treats – with our talented chef herself leading the cake sale.
We were delighted to welcome our partners from the King’s Lynn Bowls Club, members of the Rotary Club, and many friends from the wider community who joined us to support such an important cause.
Together, we raised an incredible £700 for Macmillan Cancer Support – a true reflection of what can be achieved when people unite for a good cause.
The feedback from visitors was heartwarming, with many saying how much they enjoyed the music, the atmosphere, and the sense of community. Several even asked if this would become an annual event – and we are delighted to say we hope it will!
We are so proud of the success of this special afternoon and would like to give a heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed, and to Gaywood Church Rooms for providing the perfect venue.
At Athena, we know that small moments of kindness can create lasting joy – and this Macmillan Coffee Morning was a perfect reminder of that.
