They’ve hatched! Aria Court Care Home, in Fenland, have some new arrivals after setting up an incubator in their activities room.
The team at the March care home wanted to bring the outside in and give residents a chance to follow the chicks’ progress in their early days and weeks.
They set up the incubator and within a matter of days the first chicks began to hatch out, much to the delight of the residents.
Kanina O’Neil, Lifestyle Co-ordinator, said: “The idea came about as we were looking for ways to bring the outside in.
“We thought it would be an exciting experience for our residents and when we suggested it during our community meeting they were all very enthusiastic about the idea.”
The Lifestyles team constantly strive to offer a range of activities that interest and engage the residents, and recreate experiences they have enjoyed in the past.
Aria Court plan to enter the hatchery project into the Athena in Bloom competition held annually to celebrate the hard work our teams put into creating relaxing and stimulating outdoor environments for residents.
One of this year’s categories is Bringing The Outside In – designed to ensure everyone can experience the outdoors including those who are unable to get outside themselves.
