The residents and team at Goodwins Hall are delighted after scooping yet another award for their gardens this summer! This time as part of the Anglia in Bloom competition.
Earlier this week our residents and team received a visit from the lovely representatives of the Commercial Services at Kings Lynn and West Norfolk Council.
In the Care and Nursing Homes category, entrants are scored on a variety of different areas including quality of signage, accessibility of the gardens, quality of the horticulture, environmental responsibility and conservation. All of which are very closely aligned with our values at Athena Care Homes.
After the judging of our strong entry, the home were presented with a certificate for achieving the Silver Gilt Award from the 2023 Anglia in Bloom awards. The Anglia in Bloom regional awards form part of the RHS (Royal Horticultural Society’s) Britain in Bloom competition. This is a campaign set up to help us all get the best out of the village, town or city in which we live, both environmentally and florally. It is a great way of getting our communities working together, socially, and having lots of fun on the way.
This award was presented for the work the residents had done documenting the wildlife in their garden which includes muntjac deer, hedgehogs and a wide assortment of birds, amphibians and insects. That work, coupled with the home grown fruit and vegetables and the unique flowers on display throughout the year were the backbone of their entry.
Home Manager, Flavia Hansell, said, “It’s another really proud day for our residents and our team. Our gardens are an integral part of the resident experience here at Goodwins Hall. Everyone is so proud of their appearance and the special moments we can share in our gardens are an integral part of our care. This Silver Gilt Award from Anglia in Bloom is a thoroughly deserved recognition for the work our residents and our team have put into our gardens this year.”
This award comes on top of a multitude of awards the home has received for their gardens this year, including Athena in Bloom and the Kings Lynn Horticultural Show. You can see a selection of snaps from the gardens this summer in the gallery below.
